THE CONSERVATIVE CAMPAIGN TO BRIDGE THE GENERATIONAL DIVIDE
Next Gen Tories has a single mission - to tackle the Generational Divide.
Age is the new dividing line of politics - it is now a stronger indication of voting intention than class, gender or race. For every ten years younger a person is, they are nine points less likely to vote Conservative.
Generations of voters are no longer looking to the Conservatives as they reach their thirties and forties - this must change.
The campaign will act as a focal point, bringing together like-minded Conservatives to address how the Conservative party can tackle the Generational Divide.
COST OF LIVING
Younger people face a higher tax burden than any other age group, with the average graduate now paying a marginal rate of 51% between the age of 33 and 47.
HOUSING
The number of middle income 25 to 34 year olds owning their own home has plummeted from almost two thirds in 1997 to barely a fifth twenty years later.
CHILDCARE
The average cost of sending a child to nursery is now over £13,000 per year. Without targeted action, more couples will be faced with a choice between careers or children.
